Preheat oven to 325 degrees F.
Pour butter into a 13-9-inch pan; tilt pan to coat
Beat egg whites until soft peaks form; gradually add sugar and salt, beating until stiff peaks form. Fold in pecans. Spread pecan mixture in a single layer in prepared pan. Bake at 325 degrees for 35-45 minutes or until mixture is browned and butter is absorbed, stirring every 10 minutes to coat evenly. Remove to wax paper while still warm; cool completely. Store in airtight container.
